Warm Waiting

Project Overview
This interactive installation brings a small moment of warmth to people waiting for buses on cold winter days. Many of us remember doodling on fogged-up windows—when a simple touch reveals a drawing or a message, turning an ordinary surface into a brief form of communication. By creating a mist-like layer on the glass panels of a bus stop, the installation reveals playful pre-set graphics and invites passers-by to leave short notes using a special brush. It transforms waiting into a shared, gentle experience—one that encourages spontaneous interaction and small acts of kindness.

Interaction flow

Hidden smiley-face patterns are pre-drawn on the bus-stop glass. When people approach the shelter, a proximity trigger activates a misting device; the temperature difference causes the glass surface to fog up. The smiley faces—made with a surfactant—then become visible through the mist, as if greeting waiting passengers. Visitors can also use a brush filled with the same surfactant to leave short notes or drawings, turning a moment of waiting into a shared, warm exchange with others.
